Terms of Use

The rules for using this website and the general terms on which we take commissions for handmade furniture.

About these terms

These terms apply to your use of warwood.design and to commissions you place with us. By using the site you accept them. Your written quote, once accepted, sets out the specific details of your order. If it conflicts with these terms, the quote takes priority.

Using this website

  • Use the site lawfully and do not try to disrupt it, gain unauthorised access or send spam through the contact form.
  • We keep the information on the site accurate, but it is a general description of our work, not an offer. Every piece is one of a kind, so photos show past work and examples, not the exact piece you will receive.
  • We may change or take the site offline at any time.

Our content and designs

The text, photographs, logo and original furniture designs on this site belong to War Wood Furniture Design or are used with permission. You may view and share links to the site for personal use. You may not copy, reproduce or sell our photos or designs, or build furniture from them commercially, without our written permission.

Commissions and quotes

  • Sending an enquiry does not create a contract. A contract is formed only when we send you a written quote and you accept it, and pay any deposit the quote requires.
  • The quote sets out the design, materials, dimensions, price, payment schedule, estimated completion date and delivery arrangements.
  • Completion dates are estimates. Handmade work can take longer than planned, and we will keep you informed if it does.
  • Changes you ask for after you approve the design may change the price and the timeline. We will confirm any change in writing before we make it.
  • Prices are in the currency stated in the quote. Unless the quote says otherwise, they do not include delivery, import duties or taxes charged in your country.

Made-to-order pieces and cancellation

Every piece is made to your specifications. For that reason, the statutory 14-day right to withdraw from distance contracts generally does not apply to our commissions. This exception covers goods made to the consumer's specifications or clearly personalised, under EU Directive 2011/83/EU (Article 16(c)), the UK Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 (regulation 28(1)(b)) and the equivalent rules in Ukrainian consumer law.

You can still cancel a commission at any time by telling us in writing. If you cancel after work has started, we may keep, or ask you to pay, the reasonable costs we have already incurred, such as timber bought for your piece and the work completed, as set out in your quote. We will refund anything you have paid beyond that.

Natural materials

We work with solid timber. Grain, colour, knots and figure differ from board to board, and scorched and hand-applied finishes are never identical twice. Wood also moves slightly with changes in humidity. These are natural features of the material, not defects. We will give you care instructions with your piece. Following them helps it last.

Delivery and risk

Delivery is arranged as agreed in your quote. Where we agree to deliver outside Ukraine, you are responsible for any customs duties, import taxes and clearance charges in your country unless the quote says otherwise. Responsibility for the piece passes to you when it is delivered to you or to someone you name.

Quality and your legal rights

We stand behind our work. If something is wrong with your piece, contact us as soon as possible with photos, and we will repair, replace or refund in line with your rights under the law. Nothing in these terms limits the rights you have as a consumer under the law of Ukraine or of the country where you live.

Our charity commitment

We give a portion of our proceeds to Ukrainian charitable organisations that support orphanages. This is a voluntary contribution made by us from our own income. It is not a donation made by you or on your behalf, it does not change the price you pay, and it is not tax-deductible for you.

Our liability

We are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care. We are not responsible for loss that is not foreseeable, for business losses, or for the website being temporarily unavailable. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot legally be excluded, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or your statutory rights as a consumer.

Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the law of Ukraine. If a dispute arises, please contact us first. Most problems can be solved directly. If you are a consumer living in the EU, the UK or elsewhere, you keep the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of your country, and you may bring a claim in the courts of your country where its law allows.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The version on this page on the date you accept a quote applies to that order.
